Nathan Riebli is a composer and music director from the San Francisco Bay Area. His music has hundred of hours of airtime on major networks. Most recently his music can be found on the Discovery ID network, underscoring true crime dramas. In addition to composing for television Nathan works extensively in theatres. He received an “Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction” award from the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle in 2014 for Grease at the 6th Street Playhouse, and was nominated by Theatre Bay Area in the same category. He has underscored several new productions of plays for the 6th Street Playhouse in Santa Rosa, CA, three of which were nominated for a SOTA award (Anna in the Tropics, Silent Sky, and A Christmas Carol). In 2017 He collaborated with Pulitzer prize finalist playwright Amy Freed on a production of The Tempest at Stanford University. Nathan underscored the play and set Shakespeare’s songs to music. In 2013 Nathan took part in the Taiwan International Music Workshop in Yi-Lan. His piece, Highland Lotus, written for the traditional Chinese ensemble Chai Found, was performed and has been performed in China and Taiwan since the workshop. Nathan has a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the University of the Pacific – Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music in Composition from the University of Missouri – Kansas City Conservatory of Music. His composition instructors include Dr. Chen Yi, Dr. Zhou Long, Dr. James Mobberley, Dr. Francois Rose, Dr. Kohei Mukai, and Dr. Robert Coburn. Currently, Nathan is the music director at the Sonoma Academy High School in Santa Rosa, CA.
